Blue Institute Labs, PBC is the first oceanfront BlueTech and Blue Economy business innovation center on the US eastern seaboard. Located in Plymouth & New Bedford Massachusetts, and Newport Rhode Island, we offer (during covid) remote programming: the BLUE Excelerator & BLUE Incubator; and provide business escalation resources such as ecosystem introductions, business support services, networking, mentoring, teaming opportunities, industry speaker series, university researchers connect, government agency introductions (such as DOE & Navy & SBA) access and education on public and private funding mechanisms; pitch contests and “pressure tanks,”; pilot & prototyping support; socialization events, demonstration days (an on the water day is in planning for fall 2021) shared work resources such as co-working/meeting space; water-front stem/maker space; water access & in water testing. Our startups and ecosystem are concerned with climate change solutions, clean water, and healthy & secure oceans. We understand and have the expertise to address the challenges of hardware, the opportunities in the advancements in software artificial intelligence and machine learning – and most importantly how to successfully marry hardware and software for deployment in the harshest & dangerous conditions in the ocean and along its coasts – the frontline for impact and resiliency around climate challenges, fisheries & aquaculture, dual use applications for defense, and to support a number of cleantech sectors that “touch blue” such as alternative energy through algae, ocean energy, and the burgeoning offshore wind development along the US eastern seaboard. Our sister non-profit 501c3 organization, Blue Institute is developing programing for BlueTech & Blue Economy startups at the ideation and early stage development.
