Reports and Plans

New Bedford has completed more concurrent planning in the past decade than at any other time in the City’s history, positioning the City to move a progressive agenda that addresses the critical components for achieving sustainable growth and responsible development.

The NBEDC, City of New Bedford, and New Bedford Port Authority are continuously reporting measurable impacts and working together to undertake strategic planning and research efforts.

These include NBEDC annual reports, a new citywide comprehensive plan and economic strategy, and arts+culture focused analysis and research. Many of these initiatives have been completed in partnership with regional and state agencies, such as the Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District and MassDevelopment; private foundations, such as the Barr Foundation; and the nonpartisan, nonprofit civic organization MassINC and their Gateway Cities Innovation Institute
