Zeiterion Performing Arts Center Unveils Its 2009-2010 Season

New Bedford’s Zeiterion Performing Arts Center announces the opening of its 2009-2010 season as a “Kaleidoscope of the Senses”. A diverse and magical array of entertainment, the season’s programming kicks off with a gala opening on Friday, September 25 with Frank Sinatra, Jr. and continues with country singer Wynonna, the Queen of England’s Royal Scots Guard, the Chinese Circus Show of 100 Wonders, the Moscow Festival Ballet, and a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with Paul Winter’s magnificent Missa Gaia. The Z calls its next season a celebration of imagination at work.
The Z has a major economic impact on the downtown revitalization, with a 1.8 million dollar and 89 job impact on the local economy.  The Z has developed joint marketing partnerships with local businesses and organizations.  It is a recipient of state tourism funds which are used to market  the Z and the city throughout the region. Each year from New England and beyond, 100,000 people pass through its doors.
The Z has established a restaurant pairing program with several of the local restaurants and shows.  Each restaurant will offer a 20% discount on the meal the night of the show when the patrons show their purchased ticket. The Waterfront Grille is paired with Sinatra Sings Sinatra; No Problemo with Ballet Folklorico; The Rose Alley Ale House with Ani DiFranco; and Pour Farm Pub with The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween, as well as others.
Another innovative program debuting this year to off-set the strained economy is a 50% discount offered to students and seniors (over 65) with an ID one hour before specific shows.
