Campaign to Support North End Community in Fire Recovery

5.12.2021

Staff Contribution

As you may know, the north end community endured a tragic fire accident at 1279 and 1283 Acushnet Ave. several weeks ago. Sadly, Tomas Gomes, 48, and Juan Macario Mejia, 40, passed away. In addition, two businesses were lost and 45 residents from the community were also displaced.

If you would like to support the affected businesses and community, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Fairhaven (UUSF) has begun leading an effort to collect funds. They will work directly with the Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) to disperse the aid.

To donate to their campaign, please click here(please enter your donation on the top line labeled “CEDC Fire Support.”)

If you would prefer to use a check, please address it to UUSF, and note “CEDC Fire Support” on the memo line, and mail to:

Unitarian Universalist Society of Fairhaven
102 Green Street
Fairhaven, MA 02719

The Salvation Army is also hosting a charitable fund. The inter-agency team supporting fire victims will distribute those funds. To make a contribution, please click here.
