Plans & Publications
New Bedford has completed more concurrent planning in the past decade than at any other time in the City’s history, positioning the City to move a progressive agenda that addresses the critical components for achieving sustainable growth and responsible development.
Within the last several years, the City of New Bedford, NBEDC, and key strategic partners have completed or are finalizing, a series of major research and planning efforts.
These include a new Citywide Comprehensive Plan, NB Resilient, the City’s plan for climate action + resilience, Building New Bedford, the City’s 2023 housing strategy, Housing for All, our own housing market analysis undertaken with MassINC, and the Composition of the New Bedford Creative Economy 2018-2022 and Economic Impacts, the City’s first comprehensive report on the creative economy.
Many of these initiatives have been completed in partnership with regional and state agencies, such as the Southeastern Regional Planning & Economic Development District and MassDevelopment; private foundations, such as the Barr Foundation; and the nonpartisan, nonprofit civic organization MassINC and their Gateway Cities Innovation Institute.
