New Bedford Starts Web Site for 'Master Plan'

NEW BEDFORD — A new Web site dedicated to providing the public with access to information about “New Bedford 2020: A Citywide Master Plan” has been launched.
The site can be accessed by clicking on the Master Plan logo located on the city’s homepage,, said Mayor Scott W. Lang and the City’s Office of Planning in formally announcing the launch.
Informational updates regarding New Bedford 2020 can also now be found on Twitter and Facebook. Follow Master Plan-related tweets, or add the New Bedford Master Plan as a friend on Facebook. Residents are encouraged to help spread the word and plan New Bedford’s future.
Assistant City Planner Jill Maclean said the city is seeking public input through traditional and non-traditional methods.
“We’ve made the Master Plan Web site easy to use and easy to navigate,” she said. “A few of the main features available on the Web site include an overview of the master plan project, a project timeline, upcoming events and public meetings, and a section for the public to submit comments and ideas.”
City officials are using the Web site, Twitter and Facebook as communication tools to reach as many people as possible. They encourage residents to take the opportunity to participate in the first city master plan in more than 30 years. People can attend a meeting or event, use the Web site to submit comments and ideas, or tell friends on Facebook and Twitter about New Bedford 2020.
